Award-winning director and cinematographer Dianne Whelan takes on the 24,000 km Trans Canada Trail stretches across the continent of North America, connecting the Atlantic, Arctic and Pacific oceans. It is the longest trail in the world.
For six years filmmaker Dianne Whelan travelled by hiking, biking, paddling, snowshoeing and skiing, the entirety of the land and water trails, the only person to ever accomplish this journey across the country. For a woman in her 50s who is not an extreme athlete, it was sometimes gruelling, occasionally harrowing, often exhilarating and always surprising.
“500 Days in the Wild” is a feature documentary that weaves intimate moments of reflection with adventure and stories of the people and communities that Dianne encountered along the way.
